FAQs
Have questions? Go ahead, explore our comprehensive answers here.
What is an in-kind contribution?
An in-kind contribution is a contribution of a good or a service other than money. We provide in-kind web design and marketing services to qualified nonprofit organizations by donating our time and expertise.
Are there deadlines for submitting applications?
No, there are no specific deadlines. Applications for Web Design and Marketing Grants are currently being accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis. With that said, your organization will have a better chance of being selected for a grant if you submit your application during our slow-season, between late spring and early fall.
Will you consider applications by non-U.S. organizations?
In most cases, the answer would be, no. We offer in-kind grants to US nonprofits that have an office(s) in the United States, and are able to provide a proof of its charitable status, and its most recent 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF. .
What needs to be included as part of my application?
A complete application will include:
- Any supporting documents such as RFPs, SOW, and etc.
- Completion of the online submission form;
- Proof of charitable status (Tax Exempt Organization determination letter);
- Organization’s statement confirming the budget allocated for the project;
How are applications reviewed and evaluated, and what can I expect in terms of feedback?
Upon submission of the application form, you will receive a confirmation email along with a list of questions about your project. Your answers will help us learn more about specific project goals and will inform our decision.
Because of the large volume of applications that we receive, we are unable to provide personalized feedback on every inquiry. If your proposed project is not seen as a strong match to our team’s priorities, or if there is no budget allocated for the project, or the project is significantly underfunded, you will not receive any specific feedback on your inquiry.
How do you calculate the amount of an in-kind grant and what’s the maximum amount?
The overall grant amount is calculated as a total of pro bono hours our team is willing to contribute towards the project multiplied by our hourly rate of $150.00. The maximum amount awarded for any select project is $10,000.
Example of how we calculate our in-kind contribution
| Service to be provided | Estimated Project Cost | Number of Pro Bono Hours | Rate per hour | Total In-kind Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Website Design | $12,000 | 20 | $150 | $3,000 |
| Marketing Campaign Planning & Execution | $5,000 | 3 | $150 | $450 |
| $17,000 | $3,450 |
Please keep in mind that on average, the amount of our in-kind contribution will cover 15% to 25% of the total estimated project cost.
Do you have any particular preferences when selecting projects?
We love working with visual and performing arts organizations and educational institutions. We also seek to award ambitious organizations that have a clear vision and look for the right partner to help them reach their goals.
Do you require a formal letter from nonprofits acknowledging your in-kind contributions?
We do not require formal letters acknowledging our in-kind contribution, but we always welcome feedback from organizations.
