We created a new website & clear messaging to remove confusion around the Niagara History Center’s various identities
Services: Website Design, User Experience, Maintenance & Support
The Niagara History Center (NHC) preserves, promotes and interprets the diverse cultural heritage of the people, places and events related to Niagara County and the Erie Canal. It is a vital community asset and the catalyst for connecting Niagara County’s past, present and future.
Founded as the Lockport Historical Society in 1921, later renamed the Niagara County Historical Society, and more recently the Niagara History Center, the organization proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021.

The Challenge
Following its recent name change, the NHC sought to launch a comprehensive rebranding and website redesign, along with continued site maintenance. The project aimed to celebrate the organization’s centennial history and evolution while addressing lingering confusion around its various identities.
The goal was to create a user-friendly, visually engaging website that clearly communicates the organization’s mission, vision, and goals while establishing credibility with community members, partners, and donors. The site also needed to provide a seamless user experience (UX).

Solution
We started with a comprehensive discovery process, collaborating with key stakeholders to develop a unified naming and messaging strategy.
The solution was to position Niagara History Center as the primary brand while identifying the Niagara History Center Complex, Erie Canal Discovery Center, and The Colonel Bond House as its three distinct locations.
To ensure consistency, we designed templates for each location and assigned unique color codes to the five buildings of the Niagara History Center Complex, making it easier for visitors to navigate and distinguish exhibits.

The Result
We developed a refreshed visual identity and a new WordPress website integrated with a comprehensive member management system, events calendar, ticketing, and donation features.
As the result, the client saw an increase in website traffic and more notice of their events by the public. The site also received positive community comments about its accessibility and ease of use.
Post-Launch Statistics

“I was impressed by the development of such a spectacular website in a cost-effective and affordable means. The website was built, tested, and published within the schedule given by Limit8 at our first meetings. There has been increased traffic to the website and more notice of our events and updates by the public digitally married with our increased use of social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn). The website has also had positive community comments who have praised its ease of use and accessibility.
Thank you for all the help and support your team have provided during this project. It was a privilege to work with you.”
